Toby Hanson, PGM PGP (WA), Past Sovereign Grand Musician

Toby Hanson

Toby’s journey in Odd Fellowship began on July 13, 2000 when he was initiated into Ballard-Alki Lodge #170 in Seattle. Since that time he has risen through the ranks of the Order to become Sovereign Grand Musician of the Sovereign Grand Lodge. He has served the jurisdictions of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana as Grand Musician. He has also served as both Grand Master and Grand Patriarch of Washington. He is active in both his home lodge in Seattle and his associate lodge, Buckley #75, home lodge of Past Sovereign Grand Master Art Craig.

In his musical life, Toby Hanson plays both piano and accordion and serves as music director with several ensembles including the Smilin’ Scandinavians, The Jangles, the Valse Café Orchestra, Rouge, and Cowgirl’s Dream. He is a member of the Northwest Accordion Society, the Northwest Western Swing Music Society Hall of Fame, and the Sacramento Western Swing Society Hall of Fame. He produces his own radio show, The Scandinavian Polka Party, for Internet broadcaster 247polkaheaven.
